In addition to our website, the Burgenland Bunch has an active, affiliated Facebook page called The Burgenland Bunch OFFICIAL. It is a private, members-only group targeted at those who have ancestral roots in the Burgenland area. To join, you must request membership and answer three questions intended to weed out spammers. The page is operated by five admins/moderators, three of whom are also BB staff members, who review membership requests and approve posts to ensure a friendly, safe, and vibrant forum for sharing knowledge, resources and family histories.

Current membership exceeds 2000 individuals and has been consistently growing. Many, but not all, of its members are also BB members. As noted above, the Facebook page is only affiliated with the Burgenland Bunch. Each entity operates independently of the other but also collaboratively, with many of the same goals. This Facebook page has become the BB’s primary quick-answer resource, as its knowledgeable members are able to answer most genealogy and history questions. Conversely, we are its main sources for research materials, databases, and other items that require a more enduring situation. One of its admins writes a monthly report for the BB newsletter telling of activities on the page and, cooperatively, the Facebook page includes a link to the BB newsletter.

However, our affiliated page is not the only Facebook page targeted at Burgenland history and genealogy. Another important resource is page Burgenland-Gradišče-Őrvidék Genealogy, which used to be our Facebook page. It was started by a former BB staff member on our behalf who later wanted to be independent and emphasize the Hungarian aspects of Burgenland. It has just under 1000 members and, like our affiliated page, is private and members-only. If your research interests lean toward the Hungarian side, you should also consider joining this group.

Beyond these pages, you can find many pages on Facebook that specialize in some topic related to Burgenland, including some involving its history and genealogy. Just put “Burgenland” in the search box in Facebook. Of course, we think our affiliated page is the best one, and we invite you to join!
