Purposes and Objectives How to join Membership dues and privileges
| The Burgenländische Gemeinschaft (BG)
is an association that was established in 1956 with the objective to build a global community of Burgenländers, notably of Burgenländers who emigrated to other European countries, to the U.S.A. or other overseas countries, and to foster their attachment to their homeland. Members receive a periodical newletter with news about what is happening in Burgenland and to Burgenländers all over the world. All over the world Burgenländers have established regional chapters of the Burgenländische Gemeinschaft. The biggest regional chapters are those in the U.S.A., Canada, Argentina, Switzerland and Germany. They contribute substantially to promoting the image of their homeland abroad and are important opinion-makers for the Austrian economy and tourism. The close to 20,000 Burgenländers in the U.S.A. alone that the Burgenländische Gemeinschaft serves through its network holds an impressive potential. Those Burgenländers are already friends of our home country and need not be won through costly promotions for Austria and the Burgenland. The mission of the Burgenländische Gemeinschaft is
As an acknowledged representative of the interests of expatriate Burgenländers and through its ties with the "Auslandsösterreicher Weltbund" as well as the ministry of foreign affairs, the Burgenländische Gemeinschaft also has a big say in all matters that concern expatriate Austrians. |

To sign up for BG membership, please submit in writing your name, your full postal address and possibly your phone and fax numbers and your e-mail address. To do so, use our online registration form

The annual dues for membership are EUR 13 (domestic) or EUR 15 (= USD 15) for outside of Austria. Members resident in Austria are requested to use the BG's payment slips to transfer the amount. Members resident abroad may submit the amount in cash to their local representative
( In turn, the BG offers to send members the periodical BG newsletter and to promote the interests of expatriate Burgenländers, to organize trips to visit friends and family, to organize tours, to arrange the presentation of gifts on behalf of friends or family, to assist in getting hold of documents, to organize get-togethers and youth programs, and to assist members in dealing with public authorities.
