A notice from Walter Pomper, Chicago

One of the most popular dance tunes played at the picnics, dances, weddings, birthdays and yes Bar mitzvah in this country is the "Chicken Dance".

It started in 1963 by the Swiss accordion player Werner Thomas in Davos. The dancers suddenly decided to flap their arms and hop around like chickens and it became popular and done everywhere. Today it's done around the Globe and because any klutziest Shmo can go out on the floor, hop around and look silly like everyone else and have fun, fun, fun. Of course the Kids picked it up from Disney show on TV.
