The Diocese Eisenstadt will experience soon the first beatification.
Dr. Ladislaus Batthyány, the "physician of the poor", will be beatified next year by Pope Johannes Paul II. The 1870 born optician, father of 13 children founded the hospital in Kittsee and later another one in Koermend with own means. He treated 80-100 patients daily, many of them free of charge. After one year of serious illness he died on January 22, 1931. He is buried in the Franciscans church in Guessing.
