Greetings

My name is Angela Tarnok of Glendale, New York, USA: I am very happy and thankful to be honored as "Miss Brüderschaft der Burgenländer New York 1999" and the cover girl for Brüderschaft der Burgenländer's year 2000 calendar.
My father and uncles were born in Sulz, Burgenland, to Johann Tarnok and Angela (nee Miksits of Gerersdorf). I have had the pleasure to vacation in Austria for three Summers and stay with my grandparents in Sulz. Seeing the beautiful sights of Burgenland, meeting friendly townspeople and learning the history and traditions of Burgenland was a wonderful experience that I will never forget.
I work as the Export Manager for Flash Cargo, Inc. in Jamaica, New York. The firm is owned and operated by my family providing freight forwarding and customs brokerage Services worldwide. During evenings, I attend Queensborough Community College. I am the Chapter Vice-President of "Phi Theta Kappa" (International Honor Society), member of "Alpha Beta Gamma" (International Business Honor Society) and have been nominated to the "Deans's Honor List". In May 2000, I will graduate with an A. S. Business Administration (Accounting & Marketing) and plan to continue my studies towards a Doctorate in Economics and Finance.
This November, I will marry Edward Koenig of Commack, New York. His parents are Eric Koenig und Johanna (nee Schatz of Strem in Burgenland). We look forward to our marriage and spending the rest of our lives happily together. When we have children, we plan to visit Burgenland as much as possible so they can experience our wonderful heritage.
As Miss Brüderschaft der Burgenländer, I hope to see more young people become active in preserving our heritage. You can look for our upcoming events on the calendar, or contact any of the members. The dances and social groups are a fun way to learn about Burgenland and to make great new friends! With warmest regards from New York,
Angela M. Tarnok
